The first thing you need to do whenever you lose at something is to identify why you have lost. Ofcourse you can only do this after you get over the initial period of dejection. Asking yourself the following questions can help you in this
1. What caused the failure ?
2. Is the failure due to some decisions you had taken ?
3. What were the circumstances under which you had taken those decisions ?
4. Did you think about possible causes of failures and actions you can take to minimize the failures when you started on this goal ?
5. Did you think of alternate paths for achieving your goals, a plan B or plan C?
Once you have identified the causes of failure the next step is learning from the causes of failures. The following points can help you in this exercise
1. What would you have done differently if given a second chance?
2. For each of the causes you have identified as the reason for failure can you think of possible solutions or approach you are going to adopt to solve them?
3. Based on this experience of failure can you also think ahead and identify what other problems can arise in achieving your goal. Can you think of solutions to these problems before hand as to how you are going to tackle them.
You will have to learn as much as you can from your failures. Don’t repeat your mistakes and lastly you can’t go on commiting new mistakes to learn from it, because life is short and only gives you a few chances to succeed. Thats why you need to learn from others mistakes!
